(News Bulletin 247) – STMicroelectronics announced on Tuesday the launch of a new MEMS pressure sensor likely to display a longevity of up to ten years, and that it is intended for applications related to the Internet of Things (IoT ).
The world’s leading manufacturer of electromechanical microcircuits (MEMS) points out that this waterproof sensor, called ILPS28QSW, can withstand temperatures that can vary between -40°C and 105°C.
Its resilience makes it particularly suitable for applications in metering systems for water and gas, weather monitoring or air conditioning, explains ST.
“With the spread of the Internet of Things in the industrial sector, companies are looking to collect data throughout their operations, often in difficult environments, both indoors and outdoors,” said said Simone Ferri, general manager of the AMS MEMS branch of STMicroelectronics.
The sensor, currently in production, will be priced at $3 each for minimum orders of 1,000 pieces.
