(News Bulletin 247) – Stellantis announced on Tuesday the creation of a joint venture with the Taiwanese Foxconn with a view to designing and marketing innovative semiconductors for the automotive industry.

The entity, called ‘SiliconAuto’, will produce from 2026 components for the new generation of platforms dedicated to the automotive industry for both Stellantis, Foxconn and other third-party customers.

The head office of this ‘joint venture’ will be located in the Netherlands, with a management team to include executives from the two founding companies.

Stellantis will provide expertise in developing and delivering the capabilities needed for future electric vehicles and multi-energy vehicle platforms.

The creation of this joint venture follows the agreement concluded at the end of 2021 between Stellantis and Foxconn aimed at developing a range of semiconductors dedicated to applications related to the automotive industry.

The two groups also plan to collaborate in smart cockpits equipped with consumer electronics, services and human-machine interfaces.
