(News Bulletin 247) – The New York Stock Exchange posted strong gains on Tuesday, encouraged by favorable news from Asia: the Dow Jones rose more than 0.9% to 34,261 points and the Nasdaq Composite, more than 0.5% to 13,761 points.
“The markets in China continued to rebound overnight, with the announcement of an extension of aid to the real estate sector and the prospect of new support for the economy”, underlined IG France before the opening.
Some confidence also prevailed on the eve of US inflation, expected by economists to slow to its lowest annual rate in more than two years, which could encourage the Fed to be more accommodating for the markets.
IG France also thought that members of the Fed due to speak this week should be positive on inflation and “could increasingly suggest that the rate hikes should be over soon”.
Investors should also watch out for a first salvo of quarterly results in the United States, mainly on Friday, a salvo which will be dominated by several large financial establishments such as JPMorgan Chase.
The latter was also awarded 1.5% on the stock market on Tuesday, thanks to an increase in recommendation at Jefferies from ‘hold’ to ‘buy’, with a price target raised from 11% to 165 dollars. , as part of a sector note.
Also on the value side, Boeing climbed 2.5% on the aircraft manufacturer’s announcement that it delivered a total of 136 commercial aircraft during the second quarter (including 103 737 models, eight 767s, five 777s and twenty 787).
