LONDON (Reuters) – TUI, Europe’s top tour operator, reported its first post-pandemic profit as it reported results in the third quarter marked by strong bookings and high demand.
The company reported underlying profit before interest and tax of 169 million euros for the quarter, along with revenue of 5.3 billion euros.
“We are investing today to continue to grow significantly and profitably in the future,” said Sebastian Ebel, CEO of TUI.
He added that the Mediterranean region in Europe remained one of the tour operator’s main destinations despite extreme weather conditions.
“The heat wave that hit northern Europe in June and the wildfires that ravaged southern Europe have only temporarily dampened the strong growth recorded so far,” he added.
The group also said it had reduced its net debt by 1.1 billion euros, which now stands at 2.2 billion euros.
