(News Bulletin 247) – Verallia announced on Wednesday that it intends to intensify its glass reuse efforts in Europe with the implementation of several pilot projects
The leading European producer of glass packaging for beverages and food products explains that it plans to participate in several structuring projects to be deployed by next year.
In Germany, the group intends to invest in its own range of reusable 0.75 liter wine bottles available in two colours, a product line which will be available from the second quarter of 2024.
In Spain, Verallia is involved in a project led by the Spanish Wine Federation (FEV) aimed at developing a system for reusing bottles within the wine sector, a project supported by Brussels to the tune of 563,000 euros.
The work of this working group will continue until March 2025, in order to deploy this model on a European scale, specifies the company in a press release.
In France, Verallia has taken a minority stake in the Nantes startup Bout’ Ã Bout’, created in 2016 to manage the glass reuse cycle, from collection of packaging to washing and redistribution.
In Italy, the group joined the ‘Re-use Lab’ led in the country by a hundred industrialists in March 2023, an initiative which it considers as a preamble to the launch of its own pilot project in the country.
Verallia has set itself the goal of reducing its emissions by 46% and is aiming for carbon neutrality by 2050.
