(News Bulletin 247) – Amazon.com, and its Anti-Counterfeiting Unit (CCU), announced today the filing of two new lawsuits against Kamryn Russell and Ashley Hawat, two American influencers, as well as their accomplices , who have, according to Amazon, ‘knowingly attempted to evade Amazon’s trademark protection systems’ by promoting and facilitating the online sale of counterfeit items (jewellery, handbags, accessories).

Amazon is working around the world to fight counterfeits, launching joint lawsuits with brands to eliminate the sale of counterfeit merchandise not just in Amazon stores but throughout the supply chain.

Through its partnership with brands of all sizes, Amazon’s CCU is constantly uncovering new approaches counterfeiters are taking in an attempt to deceive customers and evade the law.

Amazon reports that in 2022, the CCU prosecuted or referred for investigation more than 1,300 offenders in the US, UK, EU and China.
