(Reuters) – The New York Stock Exchange opened higher on Monday in a context of ambient optimism which took the S&P 500 to a new all-time high.
In early trading, the Dow Jones index gained 0.46% to 38,036.29 points and the broader Standard & Poor’s 500 rose 0.51% to 4,864.55 points to reach a level never before reached.
For its part, the Nasdaq Composite rose 0.72% to 15,419.61 points.
Wall Street remains driven by the technology segment, where some of the largest capitalizations are grouped together such as Alphabet, Meta Platforms and Tesla which gain between 0.7% and 1.6% in early trading.
Macy’s takes 1.4% after rejecting on Sunday the $5.8 billion takeover offer from the consortium of investors bringing together Arkhouse Management and its partner Brigade Capital Management, citing concerns about the financing and valuation of this operation.
Archer-Daniels-Midland falls 16% after placing its CFO on administrative leave, effective immediately.
Gilead Sciences dropped 9.9% after saying Monday that a late-stage trial of its antibody drug conjugate Trodelvy failed to demonstrate a significant improvement in the survival of lung cancer patients.
