PARIS (Reuters) – The French state will not abandon the industrial activities of Atos and the tens of thousands of jobs that the IT services group in serious financial difficulties represents, Economy Minister Bruno Le said on Monday Mayor to the newspaper Les Echos.
“We will not abandon Atos’ industrial activities which represent tens of thousands of jobs,” declared Bruno Le Maire, who spoke for the first time on the subject.
Atos announced on Monday the appointment of an ad hoc agent to supervise its discussions with its banks with a view to reaching a plan to refinance its financial debt after warning that its capital increase project had become obsolete.
“The State will use all means at its disposal to preserve the strategic activities of Atos,” added the Minister of the Economy, who ensures that his services are “in regular contact” with the management of Atos and says he is following the file “very carefully”.
Atos is discussing the acquisition of its Big Data & Security (BDS) business with Airbus. The two companies are in the “due diligence” phase, indicated the French group.
