PARIS (Reuters) – The New York Stock Exchange opened slightly higher on Tuesday, driven by the latest corporate news.
In early trading, the Dow Jones index gained 29.27 points, or 0.08% to 38,881.54 points and the broader Standard & Poor’s 500 rose 0.15% to 5,188.69 points.
The Nasdaq Composite takes 0.04% or 6.72 points, to 16,355.966.
The indices are consolidating after closing at the highest levels in three weeks, while no indicators are expected on Tuesday.
Corporate financial accounts continue to drive discussions, as the results season draws to a close.
On Friday, 80% of the constituents of the S&P 500 will have published their quarterly figures, with 76.8% of companies having posted results above the consensus, against a historical average of 67%.
In terms of values, Apple increased by 1.09% while the group should present new products integrating chips intended for artificial intelligence applications.
The surprise profit posted by Disney’s streaming business in the second quarter was overshadowed by a decline in its TV channel unit, sending the stock down 8.7%.
