PARIS (Reuters) – The New York Stock Exchange opened lower on Wednesday, with Nvidia’s rebound coming to a halt while markets worry about the latest monetary policy statements and upcoming inflation figures.
In early trading, the Dow Jones index lost 97.94 points, or 0.25% to 39,014.22 points and the broader Standard & Poor’s 500 fell 0.22% to 5,457.26 points. The Nasdaq Composite lost 0.12% or 20.39 points, to 17,697.265.
Nvidia’s rebound that began on Tuesday was interrupted, after the group declined sharply during previous sessions amid concerns about technology stocks.
Markets are also concerned about the latest monetary policy comments, with policymaker Michelle Bowman warning that the Federal Reserve could raise rates if warranted, and that returning inflation to target means holding rates on hold. at their current levels.
The publication of PCE inflation for June on Friday also encourages investors to be cautious, because a figure different from the consensus could cause the markets to react suddenly.
In terms of values, FedEx gained 12% after the publication of its quarterly figures.
