(News Bulletin 247) – The half-year results period is the most important of the year in terms of publications. Investors will be watching to see whether companies’ outlooks will be confirmed or modified.

It is the busiest period of the year in terms of publications from large listed groups: the first-half results season.

For calendar reasons, this season is extremely concentrated and intense. Publicis will kick off the CAC 40 on Thursday, July 18. The 38 other groups in the Paris index – Pernod Ricard is operating on a staggered financial year – will reveal their results either the week of July 22 or the following week.

The publications are a little “better distributed” than last year. In 2023, no fewer than 32 CAC 40 members had published in the last full week of July. This year “only” 25 companies will announce their results in the week of July 22, 13 in the following week.

Some indications

However, some days will be extremely busy. This will be the case on Thursday, July 25, during which no fewer than 13 CAC 40 members will deliver their first-half results. The market will also have to digest Wednesday evening’s publications (Kering, Michelin and Carrefour).

Several groups have already given some indications of trends. Airbus and Dassault Systèmes even issued profit warnings, two weeks ago for the former, and on Tuesday for the latter. Michelin, for its part, warned analysts during a pre-publication conference call that its volumes had suffered in the second quarter.

Stellantis, for its part, also indicated in a conference call that the first half had been difficult, Bernstein said. Volumes are expected to have fallen by 16% to 20% in North America, the automaker’s largest region, and the recurring operating margin could be at the lower end of the 10% to 11% range previously given by the company, according to the financial intermediary.
