(News Bulletin 247) – The flagship index of the Paris Stock Exchange is progressing slightly as the market once again holds its breath before the publication, this Wednesday evening, of Nvidia’s third quarter accounts.
The CAC 40 is trying to regain some altitude this Wednesday. At mid-session, the Parisian index rose 0.21% to 7,242.55 points.
Investors are especially waiting for Nvidia’s quarterly results, which will be communicated on Wednesday after Wall Street closes. Now the world’s largest market capitalization, Nvidia represents the great barometer of demand for artificial intelligence.
“Today Nvidia’s results should surely shake up the market, in particular to assess again whether the high expectations of investors on the deployment of Artificial Intelligence are still justified,” summarizes Sebastian Paris Horvitz of LBPAM.

Elior leaves a bitter taste on the market
According to Bloomberg, options taken by traders on the stock suggest a variation that could reach 8%, both downward and upward, depending on the company’s results.
While waiting for Nvidia, several titles stand out on the Paris Stock Exchange. Edenred recorded the largest increase in the CAC 40, gaining 3.6%. The stock is supported by Jefferies which went from “underperform”, equivalent to “sell”, to “hold” on value.
STMicroelectronics fell 0.8% after announcing a three-year delay in its revenue target of $20 billion. The group now plans to reach it in 2030 and no longer in 2027.
Excluding the CAC 40, Elior plunged 23%, penalized by a weak outlook for its 2024-2025 financial year. FDJ lost 4.2%, after Crédit Agricole Assurances sold 2.2% of its capital at a price of 36.6 euros per share, a discount of around 7% compared to Tuesday’s closing price.
On other markets, the euro lost 0.4% against the dollar at 1.0549 dollars. Oil changes little. The January contract on North Sea Brent gained 0.3% to $73.54 per barrel while the December contract on WTI listed in New York gained 0.6% to $69.78 per barrel.
