(BFM Stock Exchange) – The Parisian index evolves in small increases on mid -session this Monday, March 17. The support plan for the economy sketched by China is welcomed with quite a few enthusiasm, especially since it occurs at the same time as mixed statistics.

The CAC 40 starts timidly the week. The flagship index of the Paris Stock Exchange takes 0.28% at 8,050.73 points this Monday, March 17.

The news of the session is dominated by China. The Chinese authorities have delivered the main lines of a consumer support plan, which however does not give details on the way in which local governments will implement it, notes Reuters.

Measures for tourism incentives and potential crèches grants are for example mentioned. Arrangements “far from a recovery bazooka”, judge Stephen Innes of Spi am.

These announcements have been delivered while several Chinese indicators have proven to be “mixed”, explains Deutsche Bank.

Veolia supported by Bpifrance

Industrial production has exceeded expectations while retail sales proved online with economist anticipations, with an increase of 4% in January-February compared to the same two months of 2024. But the prices of new houses fell 0.1% in February, which “indicates that real estate slump persists despite the last efforts made by the country to support the market.”

Luxury, a sector dependent on China for its growth, is poorly oriented. Kering fell 1.1%, Hermès abandoned 0.6% and LVMH is stable.

Veolia Environnement takes 2.5%, supported by the entry to the capital of the LAC1 fund piloted by Bpifrance. Virbac takes 9.5%, carried by a recovery of recommendation to the purchase of Stifel.

In other markets, the euro takes 0.2% against the dollar at 1.0898 dollars. The May contract on the Brent de Mer du Nord takes 1.25% at $ 71.46 a barrel while the April on the WTI side in New York advances by 1.3%.
