London (Reuters)-Jaguar Land Rover will suspend the expeditions of its cars produced in Great Britain to the United States for a month, the automaker announced on Saturday, adding to study the means to mitigate the impact of customs duties of 25% in the sector imposed by President Donald Trump.

“While we strive to study the new commercial conditions with our business partners, we take certain short -term measures, including a break in expeditions in April, while working on our medium and long -term projects,” wrote in a press release Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), property of the Indian group Tata Motors.

The British automotive sector, which employs 200,000 people directly, is very exposed to new American customs duties. The United States is the second importer of cars manufactured in Britain behind the European Union, with a share of almost 20%, according to data from the Automobile Federation The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

Jaguar Land Rover stressed in his press release that the United States was an important market for its luxury brands. The group sells 400,000 Range Rover Sports each year, Defenders and other models. Exports to the United States represent almost a quarter of its sales.
