Taipei (Reuters) – Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing CO (TSMC) reported on a turnover above market expectations Thursday and in the top of its forecast range, the group benefiting from demand for generative artificial intelligence technologies (IA).
TSMC, the largest manufacturer of chips under contract in the world, posted a turnover of 839.25 billion Taiwanese dollars (23.24 billion euros) in the first quarter, while analysts tapped on average on 835.66 billion Taiwanese dollars, according to LSEG data.
For the month of March alone, TSMC indicated that its turnover increased by 46.5% in annual sliding to 285.96 billion Taiwanese dollars.
The action of the listed group in Taipei closed up 9.9% Thursday before the publication of the results.
TSMC, which counts, among other things Apple and Nvidia among its customers, will publish its complete results of the first quarter on April 17 and will update its annual prospects and for the current quarter.
