PARIS (Reuters) – Dior announced on Monday the appointment of Jonathan Anderson as artistic director of women’s, man and haute couture collections.
“For the first time at Christian Dior Couture, since Mr. Dior, an artistic director will work on all women’s, man and haute couture collections, which will further strengthen his global creative vision,” said the prestigious LVMH fashion brand in a statement.
Jonathan Anderson will present in Paris on June 27, his first collection, Dior Homme Summer 2026, added Dior.
Aged 40, he was until March the director of the creation of Loewe, who also belonged to LVMH and which he had joined in 2013, before being appointed in April to the post of artistic director of Dior Homme, replacing Kim Jones.
Dior announced Thursday the departure of Maria Grazia Chiuri from her post as director of the creation of the women’s high-cost, ready-to-wear and accessories collections.
Appointed in 2016, she was the first woman to take the artistic direction of the brand.
Originally from Northern Ireland, Jonathan Anderson is part of a new generation of renowned creators who arrive in some of the biggest fashion brands in the world, as part of a vast reshuffle in industry, struggling with one of its lowest growths for years due to the gloom of the Chinese market and the rise in prices.
We attribute to Jonathan Anderson the deserves to have gained the Loewe coat of arms during his mandate within the Spanish brand, where he seduced critics thanks to his original and eccentric creations.
Within the luxury ready-to-wear brand, there was a basis of faithful fans, attracting an eclectic mixture of international artists in the annual competition of the Loewe craftsmanship, and also dressed actor Daniel Craig, who repeatedly embodied the character of James Bond in the cinema.
