(Reuters) – Stellantis began to re -examine its long -term strategic plan, said the director general of the automaker of the car manufacturer, Antonio Filosa, said on Wednesday during his first official intervention since his official arrival at the head of the group born from the merger between PSA and FCA.
“We have already started to examine our long -term strategic plan, which we will share when we are ready,” said Carlos Tavare’s successor during a meeting broadcast from Turin, Italy, to all the employees of the group connected through its different regions.
Presented in March 2022 by the former director general, the “Dare Forward 2030” plan aimed at a doubling of net turnover by 2030 and the maintenance of two -digit operating margins throughout the decade.
But Stellantis was confronted in 2024 with significant commercial and operational difficulties in the United States and Europe, which forced him to abandon his annual objectives and accelerated the departure of Carlos Tavares.
The current plan also plans to reach 100% of electric vehicles sold in Europe and 50% in the United States in the same horizon, as well as an increase in turnover of the new markets, excluding the United States and Europe, to reach more than 25% of the group’s turnover.
Antonio Filosa wanted to stand out from the style of his predecessor, whose relations with suppliers, employees and public authorities, had become tense, insisting on “respect and mutual trust” associated with a “competitive” spirit.
While it remains weakened in particular by the Takata airbags scandal and the quality problems linked to the Puretech petrol engines, Stellantis must also improve industrial execution and quality, continued Antonio Filosa.
Surrounded by a new team presented on Monday, the new managing director will also have to manage the balances between the major founding countries of the group-France for the ex-PSA, Germany for Opel, the United States and Italy for the former FCA. “We no longer use the ex-FCA nomenclature and ex-PSA, we are Stellantis,” added Antonio Filosa.
