(News Bulletin 247) – The Parisian index advanced at the start of the afternoon this Thursday, October 16, while the National Assembly rejected the only motion of censure likely to overthrow the government.
The Lecornu government did not fall. At least not for the moment. The CAC 40 takes the information and progresses.
At the start of the afternoon, the Parisian index rose 0.6% to 8,128.56 points. The National Assembly rejected this Thursday by a few votes a motion of censure against the Lecornu government tabled by France Insoumise. Another motion will be tabled by the National Rally, but this has no chance of succeeding.

FDJ falls, Pernod climbs
As for trade tensions, “US Treasury Secretary (Scott) Bessent yesterday issued some positive signals, giving hope that the additional 100% customs duties imposed on China would ultimately not be applied,” explains Deutsche Bank.
Scott Bessent “said that to his knowledge, President Trump was ready to meet with President Xi this month. He also suggested that the United States could extend the trade truce if China did not continue its plan to control exports of rare earths”, observes the German bank.
Investors also face many outcomes. Pernod Ricard takes 3.8% after publishing activity without any unpleasant surprises in the first quarter of its staggered financial year. Sartorius Stedim gains 9% after publishing its nine-month results and raising its targets. FDJ fell 3% while its revenues disappointed again in the third quarter.
On other markets, the euro gained 0.1% against the dollar, to 1.1656 dollars. Oil is moving forward a little. The December contract on North Sea Brent advanced 0.6% to $62.28 per barrel while that of November on WTI listed in New York at $58.63 gained 0.6%.
