Vandalism took place during the weekend in two school buildings of the municipality of Thermi, in eastern Thessaloniki (in primary schools of Trilofos and Agia Paraskevi).
The strangers destroyed the iron gate at the school of Trilofos, which they tore down, after previously breaking the locks. Then they broke the lock of the inner door of the school, as a result of which they flooded rooms from yesterday’s rain.
In Agia Paraskevi, the perpetrators also broke the locks at the main entrance of the primary school. Even the lighting fixtures in the classrooms did not escape the fury of the vandals.
Lawsuits were filed against unknown individuals for the specific vandalism, while the Thermi Police Department and the Royal Security Department were informed in order to take additional measures for the safety and protection of the schools.
The technical services of the municipality of Thermi take care of the repair of the damages, while the deputy mayor of Education, Lifelong Learning Culture and Social Protection Stelios Apostolou emphasizes that “it is the umpteenth time that schools of our municipality suffer destruction after night vandal raids. There is an urgent need to address this situation as a matter of first priority and to take appropriate and necessary measures with a sense of responsibility. “
