The interdisciplinary national exercise “Storm – 22” was conducted in his area Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean from 22 to 27 May. As announced, the final phase of the exercise was observed at sea on the general support ship “Prometheus”, the Chief of General Staff Vice Admiral Stylianos Petrakisas a representative of the head of GEETHA, General Konstantinos Floros.
The purpose of the exercise was improving combat capability of participants and maximizing cross-sectoral cooperation and synergy, through the execution of realistic scenarios of increased difficulty concerning all forms of war and included Special Operations, Mine Warfare, Anti-Submarine Warfare, Air Operations, as well as objects of cooperation with units of the Coast Guard – Hellenic Coast Guard.
The exercise – LIVEX (Live Exercise) – was attended by units of the newly formed Special Warfare Command of the General Staff, the Army, the Navy, the Air Force and the Coast Guard – Hellenic Coast Guard under the coordination of the Fleet Headquarters.
In detail, from Special Warfare Command the Parachute Squadron, the Marine Corps, the Special Guard Battalion of the National Guard and the Amphibious Squadron Squadron.
By Armyparticipated AH-64 and UH-1H Attack Helicopters, Sperwer Unmanned Aerial Vehicle System, Airborne Brigade Battalion and ASDEN Units and Departments.
From Navy, participated frigates, general support ships, fast patrol missiles, barges, ambulances, gunboats, submarines, Naval Aircraft, helicopters, minesweepers and Logistics Ships.
From Air Forceassembled F-16, Mimage 2000/5 and F-4 fighter jets with 94 exits, C-130 transport aircraft, EMB-145H airborne early warning and control system.
From Coast Guard – Hellenic Coast Guardoffshore ships and a submarine mission unit participated.
At the same time, with the exercise “Storm – 22”, the interdisciplinary were executed Exercise of Active and Passive Air Defense Medium Scale “Polyphemos – 22” concerning air and satellite threat, the interdisciplinary exercise “Kathairetis – 22” concerning the procedures of Regular Control of Anti-aircraft means within the Integrated Air Defense System and the medium-range air exercise “Response Management” in rapidly evolving situations with a parallel examination of business development scenarios.
