Servetalis insists: I can not participate in a “certified” drowning of people

The actor Aris Servetalis gave his response to the reactions caused by his decision to leave the theatrical performance “Rhino” due to the “ban” that the government imposed on the unvaccinated.

In an instagram post, he explains how he ended up leaving the blame for his unemployed colleagues in the production company, which he reportedly warned of since the summer, when the scenarios for “blockade” of the vaccinated from a series of activities were heard.

He insists on his decision, emphasizing that “I am unable to participate in a certified conviction of people”.

His post in detail:

“The decision to leave the Rhinoceros play was made as I am unable to support the separation of the people who impose the new measures. The production company and the artistic director of the Kivotos theater and director of the play Giannis Kakleas were aware of my views. Since July, seeing the state’s intention to ban the entry of unvaccinated people, either indirectly or directly, I informed them that I could not participate in this project and announced that if the theaters opened in the future only for vaccinated people, I would leave. from the show.

I suggested my replacement and put myself at their disposal to help the new member join smoothly. It was not considered appropriate to replace or make a new play with the existing troupe, because as they said they did not believe that it would be mandatory to show a certificate of vaccination or illness to enter the theater.

In September the production company decided to classify the theater as a mixed space, showing respect for my positions. A meeting with the troupe followed, where he announced it to everyone, and in honor of the producer company, without any reduction in salaries. We walked with this common assumption for a month.

With the new measures and the ban on the entrance to the theaters to unvaccinated citizens, I announced to the production company and the artistic director and director that I am leaving the show.

For the fact that my colleagues are unemployed, I consider it the responsibility of the production company as together with the artistic director they knew my position months ago and decided to continue the show at risk.

When the state forbids a portion of citizens to enter a venue to watch a show, I have no choice but to respect that decision and leave, the value of not discriminating people is above all.

I apologize to all the contributors if my decision upset them. I can not participate in a “certified” drowning of people.
