Immediately the president of the Agricultural Association of Tyrnavos and Secretary of EOASNL, Stelios Tsikritsis had a telephone conversation with the head of ELGA Thessaly, Spyros Spyropoulos and the supervisor of the Law of Larissa, Ioannis Kapsalis and is expected to organize a tour today.
Among other things, in their claims are requested:
- Change of the regulation of ELGA so that the producers are compensated at 100% for all the damaging causes in the production and in the capital.
- Immediate estimates and prompt payment of compensation to producers as the huge production costs this year create liquidity issues.
- Replenishment of lost income of producers whose crops have been damaged, as it is a given that production this year will be reduced and their incomes less.
- Additional anti-hail protection measures especially in areas that in recent years have been affected by extreme weather events and it has now been proven in practice that anti-hail protection from “air” is not sufficient.
Finally, they note that the effects of climate change are becoming more pronounced year by year and the Ministry of Rural Development and Food should find ways to limit its effects on crops.
