The intervention of the fire brigade and volunteer forces is immediate, in an attempt to bring under control the fire that broke out earlier in Loutsa (Artemida), very close to a residential area. The conditions help in this, as the wind that blows is of low intensity, but also the fact that it was immediately perceived. A helicopter is also operating in the area, as there is a hearth in an inaccessible area.

THE fire started from low and moved upwards, towards a hill of Artemis. In fact, houses were threatened, as the mayor of Spata-Artemida, Dimitris Markou, reports to APE-MPE.

“Fortunately, everything shows that the fire is under control at the moment and the prevailing conditions help in that,” said Mr. Markou and then stressed: “The intervention was immediate and at the moment the fire and volunteer teams are trying, but mainly a helicopter, as there is a focus in an inaccessible area, where ground forces can not operate. At first the fire approached houses which were threatened and even burned some trees in yards, however at the moment there is no such danger. The incident is in recession and houses are not in danger. “

In the end, Mr. Markou added: “The point is that the outbreaks show that there are more than one and this puts us in some suspicions.”

The helicopter continues to operate with constant drops of water in an inaccessible place, where the fire is currently limited, while the ground forces act to prevent it from expanding or moving in another direction.
