In the month of LGBTQIA+ pride, see five bars to visit in São Paulo

by

With the opening of Bandeira Bandeira, a new LGBTQIA+ bar in Barra Funda, scheduled for next Wednesday (15), pride month celebrations are already on the agenda in São Paulo. And there are literally several other establishments in the same footprint in the capital of São Paulo.

These are spaces that range from Das, officially dedicated to the LBTQ letters of the acronym, which has elaborate drinks and even a specialized bookstore, to Bar da Bete, a bar in Santa Cecília that works until the wee hours and has become a stronghold in a more spontaneous way. .

The list also includes novelties such as Auê, in Consolação, which has an agenda with discotheques, and Torneira, with a team formed entirely by trans and non-binary people. Check out below how to get to know these spaces.

Wow

The mix of bar, restaurant and nightclub opened at the end of 2021 in an old mansion and has already become one of the LGBTQIA+ strongholds of São Paulo nightlife. To the sound of a varied program of DJs —which includes names like Vermelho—, those who visit can sip drinks like the Paranauê, for R$27, which includes cachaça, orange liqueur, orange bitters and passion fruit, and taste foods such as hot hole, which costs R$ 29.

Bete’s Bar

The no-frills bar run by the famous Bete has been a well-known LGBTQIA+ meeting place in São Paulo for a few years. Daily, the house announces on its Instagram profile the time it will open, which usually happens late at night. There, the tip is to go for the beer – and, if you want, you can pay a few reais to choose songs to be played on the jukebox, which sets the tone for the night.

Fluid House

The space opened just under a year ago is a mixture of cultural center and nightlife. There, visual arts exhibitions, a studio and drag queens shows share the space with food and drinks – such as the drink that bears the name of the house, served for R$32, and made with campari, cointreau, hibiscus, peach and sparkling wine. The house also offers the Drag Experience, in which Mahina Starlight performs paid transformations on visitors, from makeup and wig to complete assembly, with the right to dubbing songs, lipsync, on the house stage.

The bar directed to the letters LBTQ of the acronym works in a small cozy space in Vila Buarque – and is also the headquarters of Livraria Pulsa, dedicated exclusively to LGBTQIA+ themes and authorship. Bartender Nina Veloso produces drinks such as Queentudas, the affectionate name for the classic quentão, and Karirinho – which mixes Kariri with honey, lemon and spice bitters. Both cost R$15 and are part of the house’s June and winter special, which also includes delicacies such as the hot meat or vegan hole, sold for R$19. On Wednesdays, the space also chooses a cocktail for the promotion in which two go for the price of one.

Faucet

The place in Vila Madalena opened its doors at the end of last year under the motto “a bar for all for all” and the proposal to change the beer world – more inhabited by heterosexual and cisgender people, according to the organization. With a team made up of trans and non-binary people, the restaurant has, on the menu, local beers and drinks such as Me Lambe, made with bourbon, cachaça, watermelon syrup, lemon and sparkling water, which costs R$29.
