As this year Valentine’s Day, celebrated on June 12, falls on a Sunday, restaurants in São Paulo have expanded their agenda for couples who want to have a traditional romantic lunch or dinner on the date. There are addresses serving the special menus as of this Friday, the 10th, for those who wish to advance the celebrations.
Among the options, there are houses with closed menus and others with à la carte orders, including fondue, to match the June chill.

AE! Kitchen
The house, in Vila Mariana, was recently renovated. There, the celebration will be on Saturday night (11), with dinner. In five stages, the menu features dishes such as egg mollet plus green broth with Spanish chorizo and cashew nut farofa, in addition to grilled fish, mussel cream with saffron and cauliflower puree. It costs R$ 295 per person, with reservations made by phone.

Strain
In the Tatuapé region, on the east side, the place opens its doors exceptionally on Saturday night (11), for Valentine’s Day dinner, from 7:30 pm. A closed menu will be offered, with two options for starters, two for main and two for dessert, for the couple to choose from. Entrees include grilled squid, okra and aji romesco. In the main stage, you can choose between tagliatelle with clams or pork ribs with Italian beans and porcini. The meal costs R$229 per person, while the pairing option costs R$419. Reservations are recommended.

Chou
With a charming tree-lined backyard, chef Gabriela Barretto’s restaurant in Pinheiros offers dinner for couples this Saturday (11) and Sunday (12). With starter, main course and dessert, the menu suggests options such as tuna crudo, burrata and balsamic oil to start and the pumpkin tortelli with nutmeg and cream cheese. It costs R$203 per person and booking is recommended.

confectionery lady
At the Pinheiros unit, the date is celebrated on the nights from Friday (10) to Sunday (12). The house is especially open from 6pm to 10pm to serve fondue for couples. The kit includes a cheese recipe, a chocolate or caramel recipe, two sweet side dishes, a baguette and a red or white wine – it costs R$ 385 per couple, with the right to repeat the side dishes. Spaces are limited, so it is important to book. The meal remains available until August, but during normal store opening hours. The kit is also sold on the bakery’s website, for those who want to make it at home — in this version, it costs R$290.

La Peruana
From Friday (10) to Sunday (12), the restaurant serves a special menu for couples. Orders are à la carte, with options such as spinach tortellini stuffed with octopus mousseline, garlic chips and crispy sage (R$79) for the main course. The house works exceptionally for dinner this Sunday.

New at Tatuapé, the bar has a beach atmosphere, with drinks and a menu that highlights seafood. The Valentine’s Day menu has three stages, with three recipe options for each one. For the main course, you can choose between brothed seafood rice, gnocchi in parmesan fonduta or steak tartare. The value is R$ 119 per person.

The modern osteria at Itaim Bibi opens its doors exceptionally for dinner on Sunday (12) with a closed menu, in a version with animal protein or vegan. In six stages, the meal costs R$ 395 per couple. With wines, R$ 350 is added to the bill. Among the dishes, there is wantan, a kind of Chinese pastry stuffed with artichokes, asparagus and pine nuts; or the wagyu, sweet potato and shrimp bisque chateaubriand. Reservation and payment in advance is required.

A mix of emporium and pizzeria, in Vila Madalena, the house has prepared special recipes for Valentine’s weekend. From this Friday (10) until Sunday (12), it is possible to order items such as figs gratin, stuffed with gorgonzola dolce, served with raw ham, radicchio, strawberry, blackberry and honey (R$ 58; comes with a basket of breads). Among the pizzas, there is the one topped with tomato sauce, truffled cream, raw ham, arugula and grana padano (R$ 120).
