Heraklion: Fine of 250,000 euros to a man who threw kittens in a rubbish bin

A woman approached the bucket to throw something, when to her surprise she heard the meow of five cats

As if it were … garbage behaved in 5 newborn kittens one 59 year old manwho, starting from his metochi in an area around Heraklion, Crete, where he keeps chickens and dogs, arrived at the National Road Heraklion-Miron, where he deposited the bag with kittens that he had found in his metochi and left … as if nothing was running!

A short time later a woman approached the bucket to throw something, when to her surprise she heard the meowing of cats.

He immediately notified the Police and animal welfare organizations, which hurried and police officers of the 2nd Police Department (former AT Agios Myronas) located the … bag of shame.

The baton was taken by the police, who, using material from cameras in the area – in fact, there is a camera right in front of the bucket – saw a white car approaching the bucket, someone coming out and throwing something.

So they quickly reached the identity of the man, whom … they visited at his house. He himself, probably unaware of his act and its gravity, admitted that he threw the kittens into the bag, but claimed that they were not alive.

A criminal case was filed against the man, since it is now a crime to abandon and kill an animal, while the man was fined 50,000 euros for each animal, ie 250,000 euros for the 5 kittens.
