Theodorikakos: Every day 1,000 immigrants from Turkey try to enter Greece illegally from Evros

As Mr. Theodorikakos stressed, the citizens feel safe with the government, despite the unexpected difficulties that the country and the whole world are called to face, due to the pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine and that is why the New Democracy will win the upcoming elections: “It is enough to continue to have a steady hand on the steering wheel and a correct compass in our orientation as it happens so far. The prime minister has said when the elections will take place, at the end of four years. What I want to emphasize is that when the elections take place, New Democracy and Kyriakos Mitsotakis, we have the opportunity to win with autonomy, to win again the trust of the Greek people“, He stated.

Regarding the pressure exerted daily on the borders of the country by illegal immigrants, the Minister of Civil Protection said: “For the last several weeks, in Evros, every day, a very important number approaching 1.000 illegal immigrants, try to enter, illegally, of course, Greece and are certainly prevented, by the Greek Police, which has the sacred duty, which it carries out effectively, to guard the borders of our Homeland, which are also borders of the EU. with Turkey. And he reiterated that it is the intention of the government the expansion of the fence in Evros, but also the strengthening of the border guard: «We are determined not to allow the slightest violation of our borders. There are now 37.5 km of a fence built by us, and we have clearly expressed our intention to extend this artificial barrier to as many km as we can. We will go as far as possible to this fence. If there is a need for immediate reinforcement of our forces, we already have 1,600 border guards there, in the summer we will hire another 250, but there is a comprehensive plan on the part of the Greek Police to respond in any case, always cooperating with the Armed Forces».

To strengthen the police presence at airports and tourist destinations, the Minister of Citizen Protection stressed: “The great force of our economy is tourism and no tourist goes anywhere unless he feels safe.
