The Mixed Jury Court of Thessaloniki sentenced a 59-year-old man from Algeria, who was found guilty of a deadly incident that took place last October, in the area of ​​Melenikou and in the middle of the street, to life imprisonment, with a victim of his age.
The episode seems to have been preceded by a quarrel between the two men, but the cause has not been clarified. According to the case file, the victim received stab wounds in various parts of the body, while he finally exhaled later in the hospital where he was admitted after suffering a heart attack.
One version examined by the authorities as the cause of the deadly quarrel was that of sexual envy. The “apple of contention” was a woman who testified to the police, but did not appear in court.
Apologizing, the 59-year-old denied any involvement in the incident, declaring his innocence, while stating that he had nothing to do with the woman.
“I have been in Greece for four years, I did not move with a knife, I collected garbage from the streets to live,” he said.
