Trisagio in memory of Brigadier General George Vasilakis, who lost his life exactly 12 years ago, on June 24, 2010, by an improvised explosive device placed in a mail envelope that exploded in his office, in the office of the then Minister of Civil Protection Michalis Chrysochoidis, was performed today on the 7th floor of the Ministry, which bears his name – Georgios Vasilakis floor.
The political leadership of the Ministry of Citizen Protection and the leadership of the Greek Police honored the memory of George Vasilakis with a simple event.
The Minister of Civil Protection Takis Theodorikakos, Addressing the wife and the two sons of the late George Vasilakis, he pointed out that the fight against terrorism is the duty of all those who have been called to serve the homeland and added: “A difficult day for the police, but an even more difficult day for the wife and two children of George Vasilakis. With this simple ceremony we do our duty, we will never forget it. We will always honor his memory and we will be faithful to our duty so that there are no other victims of terrorism. This is the struggle and this is the thread of life that connects us all, those who have been called to serve our homeland, and the Greek people. “
The wife and the two children of the deceased George Vasilakis, after the event, they met with the Minister of Civil Protection Takis Theodorikakos, in the presence of Deputy Minister Eleftherios Oikonomos, Secretary General of Public Order Konstantinos Tsouvalas and the Chief of the Greek Police Lieutenant General Konstantinos Skoumas.
