International trafficking of migrants from Turkey to Europe via Greece dismantled – Arrests in Kallithea and Petralona (video)

In the calibration of the action of a circuit which trafficked migrants from Turkey in Hellas and then in other European countries, proceeded the Department of Immigration Management of the Directorate of Foreigners of Attica, in collaboration with the General Regional Police Directorate of the North Aegean.

In particular, in a police operation carried out on Friday 24 June in Kallithea and Petralona, two members of the ring were arrested, a leading member, against whom an arrest warrant was pending, as well as a key member. In addition, a “safe house” was located in Attica, where the passports they used to smuggle migrants to European countries were hidden.

According to the announcement of EL.AS., the investigation carried out showed that the members of the circuit, using inflatable boats, initially illegally transported immigrants from Cesme to deserted beaches in Ikaria. There they were hidden in hotels – rooms for rent and then transported by boat to Attica. They then organized their promotion in other European countries using the method of Sosia or using fake passports.

In fact, as mentioned in the same announcement, the main member of the circuit that was arrested, often moved between Mykonos, where he lived, Samos, Ikaria and Attica to hide his activities.

It is also noted that the members of the ring, lately, are allegedly involved in the illegal trafficking and hiding in Greece of at least 33 immigrants, while in addition it was found that they had links in the UK, which are being investigated in collaboration with the British authorities (National Crime Agency UK).

In total, during the investigations, 18 passports of various nationalities were found and confiscated, the authenticity of which will be checked by the Directorate of Criminological Investigations, mobile phone, 80 UK pounds and 365 euros.

The arrested were taken to the competent Prosecutor’s Office.
