Preliminary investigation for the killing of the chimpanzee in Attiko Park – The caretaker who shot him is free

Park officials notified police immediately when the chimpanzee jumped the fence to take action, but as soon as police arrived at the scene, caregivers had already killed the animal.

Preliminary investigation from the Spata-Artemis police station, is formed for killing of the chimpanzee Bazouin Attiko Park, while shortly after the incident, the caretaker who shot the animal was arrested.

This is one 29 years oldwho was released on an oral order from the animal prosecutor, who was informed by the Police and requested that the pre-investigation material be sent to him, after the case file is completed.

As it became known by the Police, the officials of the park who testified about the incident, stated that the chimpanzee managed to jump the power lines of the high fence of the park, as he was chased by other males and went out into the fields outside the park area. It is also reported that the caregivers tried to approach him, in order to initially immobilize him with a weapon carrying an arrow with anesthetic, but this was not possible, so it was decided to kill him, on the grounds that posed a threat to employees or citizens in the area.

The decision was executed by the 29-year-old caretaker, who shot Bazou with a carbine, killing him.

It is also noted that the park officials notified the Police immediately when the chimpanzee jumped the fence in order to take action, but as soon as the police arrived at the scene, the caretakers they had already killed the animal.
