Pierrakakis: On the mobile ID and diploma in a month

by

According to Mr. Pierrakakis, we will be able to have in our mobile wallet the identity card and the driver’s license, but not the passport, as this is a travel document, something that requires bilateral agreements between states.

Citizens will not need to bring with them their identity card and driver’s license in a few days from today.

This is because they will be able to have these documents – electronically – in the wallet of their mobile phone, as announced by the Minister of State and Digital Government Kyriakos Pierrakakis, speaking to OT FORUM 2 and the panel “Intelligent, Sustainable Cities – Intelligent Citizens”.

According to Mr. Pierrakakis, we will be able to have in our mobile wallet the identity card and the driver’s license, but not the passport, as this is a travel document, something that requires bilateral agreements between states.

It is worth noting that the new service will be available from the afternoon of July 27, according to the current planning of the ministry, stressed the competent minister.

Emerging technologies

In addition, Mr. Pierrakakis stated that the bill on emerging technologies will be submitted soon. This will include the inclusion of identity in the mobile wallet, as mentioned above, real estate transfers and the KEPA, which concerns people with disabilities, which is very important.

After all, the Minister of Digital Government noted that “digital strategy must be social”.

Supercomputer in Lavrio
Furthermore, the minister announced the installation of a supercomputer in Lavrio, excluding the quality of the National Technical University of Athens, but also of the Greek engineers in general, who help to a great extent

In fact, he said that this particular one will make 100 four million calculations per second.

Local government

Regarding the next moves, Mr. Pierrakakis noted that he will visit the mayor of Athens Costas Bakogiannis, in order for the latter to present his own digital technology program. In fact, he added that the specific program concerning the local self-government (designed by Mr. Livanios) amounts to 320 million euros, of which 230 million come from the NSRF and the remaining 90 million from the Recovery Fund.

Establishment of a sole proprietorship
The minister also announced the establishment of the sole proprietorship electronically. Like this, at the moment something similar can be done for IKE, which will be extended to individual ones. However, it is likely that he will not have time to have this plan ready in July.

“Mitos” program

With reference to gov.gr, which is the work of the current government, Mr. Pierrakakis stressed that he will leave work to the citizen, but also the interoperability in the State, which means that the services will be able to communicate with each other. In essence, “This means: I unite everything with everything,” as the minister said.

That is why Mr. Pierrakakis referred to the “Mitos” program, ie a map of the procedures of the Greek State that when completed will enable the administration to have self-control and the citizen to do his job faster, noting that “The needle is moving in a direction of progress “.
