The Jaguar restaurant, in the central region of São Paulo, announced on the morning of this Wednesday, the 29th, that it will close its doors for an indefinite period and interrupt activities both at the address and delivery.

The announcement, made on social media, follows the start of the police operation that dismantled the cracolândia in Praça Princesa Isabel, a few blocks from the address, on May 10. With the dispersion of drug users across the Campos Elíseos region, many of them began to occupy the sidewalk of the restaurant and other streets in the surroundings.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the establishment has been closed, in total, for six months. In 2021, the space even promoted a crowdfunding to circumvent the crisis and remain open. At the time, the house stated that it considered closing the activities, but that even for that, money is needed: “And we don’t have it”.

Earlier this year, with the increase in Covid cases due to the omicron variant, attendance at the site dropped again. The pace only warmed up again in March, but it didn’t last long.

Published on the house’s Instagram profile, the announcement about the temporary closure says that the resumption will be notified “as soon as we are able to return to work”. Sought after, the Jaguar partners did not want to speak with the report.
