The Professor of Electoral Sociology at the University of Athens has died at the age of 75 Elias Nikolakopoulos.
The analyst of electoral tendencies and polls, according to information, suffered a heart attack while swimming on a beach in Syros.
Elias Nikolakopoulos was born in Athens and studied mathematics at the University of Athens and Lausanne. He completed postgraduate studies in the theory of probability at the University of Paris 6 and in 1984 he was awarded a doctorate by the law department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
In 1986 he was elected a lecturer at the Department of Political Science and Public Administration of the University of Athens and in 2003 a full professor. For a number of years he collaborated with the television station Mega for the presentation of the electoral processes. He was a regular contributor to newspapers (“Ta Nea” etc.) and maintained a historical program “Sto Kokkino”.
Until today he was president of the Archives of Contemporary Social History (ASKI)
