Emergency update on the forest fires and the very high risk of fire which is expected on Monday, the Spokesperson of the Fire Brigade, Firefighter Jima Raphaela, from the National Coordination Center for Operations and Crisis Management in Marousi, said in the afternoon.
In the last 24 hours they manifested 53 forest fires the Fire Department spokeswoman said.
“Today, on the first difficult day of the firefighting season, despite the special conditions that prevailed, with high temperatures and increased wind intensity, most fires were dealt with immediately, at their initial stage, by the forces of the Fire Brigade,” he stressed.
As he announced, the fire that broke out at 4:45 in the afternoon, in a forest area in the area Gates of Achaia is underway and 130 firefighters are operating with 4 groups of infantry departments, 43 vehicles, 6 aircraft and 5 helicopters, of which 1 helicopter for aerial coordination.
