Sexist attack by OASTH driver on a woman because she was wearing a bra

The driver asked the woman to dress more modestly on the bus and did not hesitate to call the police

News sexist attack on a woman for her dress fired inside a bus guide of the OASTHduring route 19, Monday night.

In accordance with ThessToday.gr the event that refers to anachronistic times occurred at 8.15 in the evening, at Andrea Papandreou street in Thessaloniki. It all started when the driver saw the woman and made an unprecedented comment about her appearance, as he addressed her face and asked for her characteristics to dress more decently on the bus because she was wearing a simple… bra.

Tension followed with other passengers, with the woman burst into sobs from the driver’s comment. The partner and mother of the victim of the sexist attack arrived at the scene, who told the driver that “the girl will dress as she pleases.”

In fact, the driver was the one who informed the Greek Police (!) about the incident, with the forces of the DI.AS team rushing and informing him that there is no legislation stipulating the way passengers should dress.

The OASTH initiates the prescribed disciplinary procedures

The administration of the OASTH condemns the incident through ThessToday.gr and emphasizes that no directive has been issued -and it is not going to be issued either- regarding the appearance of the passengers. According to Agency sources, the driver acted individually on his own initiative and already the prescribed disciplinary procedures have been initiated.
