Invoking and exploiting the general sense of Justice requires special attention, because we can very easily be led astray towards popular courts

Notice-response to the criticisms of the decision at trial of Dimitris Lignadis issued by Union of Judges and Prosecutors.

In more detail it states:

Regarding the criticisms against the Members of the Composition of the Mixed Jury Court of Athens for a decision issued

“What is just and what is unjust is usually a matter of dispute in a society”: John Rawls.

The Association of Judges and Prosecutors points out the following:

In the last period of time, the phenomenon of invoking the public’s sense of justice has been strongly observed. The invocation and utilization of the general sense of Justice requires special attention, because very easily we can be led astray towards popular courts and the fire for the “witches” of each era.

The Constitution enshrines the citizens’ right to information and, at the same time, the obligation to provide citizens with valid information. Therefore, the “DECISIONS” of tele-judges and tele-prosecutors, which are “issued” with rumours, speculations and everyday comments, violating any concept of the presumption of innocence and preceding the decisions of the Courts, are extremely dangerous in a privileged state.

The only stable guarantee of protection against the above phenomena is the Rule of Law and its institutions, among them the Independent Justice, which issues its decisions based on the evidence of the case file and the legal evidence, recognized by the Constitution and the Laws and as dictated by the fundamental principles of Fair Trial and the protection of individual rights.
