“I have to tell you that the Public Employment Service (PES) covers the costs of 70,000 children a year. EFKA, for its part, covers expenses for 30,000 children,” said the Labor Minister
On Monday, the Minister of Labor was in camps with children Kostis Hatzidakisreferring to the ministry’s program, through which 100,000 children they were able to participate in the activities and enjoy the team experience in the camp facilities.
“With great enthusiasm, the children of the Foundation “The Good Shepherd” of Piraeus, that is, children who for whatever reason are not in contact with their families, found themselves today at the children’s camp “The Children’s Paradise”, in Afidnes. I was there at their reception, because the costs are covered by the Public Employment Service. And I spoke both with these children and of course with other children who were in the same camp”said the Minister of Labor and continued:
“I have to tell you that the Public Employment Service (PES) covers the costs of 70,000 children a year. EFKA, for its part, covers expenses for 30,000 children. In other words, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs gives the possibility through the resources it manages to 100,000 children to spend a fortnight of carefree and teamwork in children’s camps all over Greece.
It is a part of the state’s social policy that is sometimes considered secondary. But it is not secondary at all. Everything that concerns our children is very important. And even more important is the state’s policy for children like those of the “Good Shepherd” in Piraeus, because it gives them support, a smile and perspective”.
