Weather: The temperature is rising – When will the mercury “hit” 40?

The temperature is gradually rising throughout Greece, with the mercury exceeding 40 degrees Celsius in many areas of the territory from Friday and especially over the weekend, at the same time that the risk of fire remains extremely high in many regions.

In western and central Macedonia, a few local clouds, temporarily increased in the midday and afternoon hours, so there is a possibility of local rain in the mountains. In the rest of the country, generally clear weather, with temporary clouds in the northern continental areas at noon and in the afternoon.
Winds will blow north northeast 4 to 6 and in the Aegean 7 to 8 Beaufort.
The temperature will see a slight further drop. It will reach 34 to 36 degrees on the mainland, 33 to 34 degrees on the Ionian Islands and 28 to 30 degrees Celsius on the rest of the island country.

MACEDONIA, THRACE
Weather: A few clouds, temporarily increased mainly in western and central Macedonia in the midday and afternoon hours where local rains are likely to occur mainly in the mountains.
Winds: East northeast 4 to 5 and in the eastern sea local 6 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 19 to 33 and in central Macedonia up to 34 degrees Celsius. In western Macedonia 2 to 3 degrees lower.

IONIAN ISLANDS, EPIROS, WEST STEREA, WEST PELOPONNISOS
Weather: Generally clear. Partly cloudy in the midday and afternoon hours in the northern continental areas.
Winds: From easterly directions 4 to 6 Beaufort gradually turning in the afternoon hours to north northwesterlies with the same intensity.
Temperature: Up to 35 degrees and locally in the mainland up to 36 degrees Celsius.

THESSALIA, EASTERN CONTINENTA, EASTERN PELOPONNISUS
Weather: Generally clear with temporary clouds in the afternoon in Thessaly and a small chance of local rain in the mountains.
Winds: North northeast 4 to 6 and in the east and south 7 local 8 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 20 to 35 degrees Celsius.

CYCLADES, CRETE
Weather: Generally clear with temporary clouds in the midday – afternoon hours in Crete, mainly in the mountains.
