At the same time, inspections and autopsies by engineers of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport will continue for the second day today, in residences, business premises and public buildings of the affected Municipalities of Penteli and Pallini (Pallini, Gerakas, Anthousa) due to the fire of July 19 that broke out in the wider area of ​​these Municipalities.

Very high fire risk for four regions of the country

A very high risk of fire (risk category 4) is predicted today, Thursday, July 21, for four regions of the country, according to the Fire Risk Prediction Map issued by the General Secretariat of Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate Crisis & Civil Protection (www.civilprotection.gr) .

Specifically, a very high risk of fire is predicted today for the following areas:

-Region of Attica (including the island of Kythira)

-Region of Central Greece (Evia)

– Peloponnese Region (Corinthia Region, Argolis Region, Laconia Region)

-North Aegean Region (Chios Region, Samos Region, Ikaria Region)

The general secretariat of Civil Protection recommends that citizens be especially careful and avoid activities in the open air that can cause a fire by negligence, such as burning dry grass and branches or cleaning residues, the use of machines that cause sparks such as circular saws, welding devices, the use of outdoor grills, smoking bees, throwing lit cigarettes, etc. Also, the General Directorate of Fire Protection reminds that during the fire protection season burning of fields is prohibited and calls on citizens in the event of a fire to notify the Fire Service immediately by dialing 199.

At the same time, for the above areas, the Plan of Civil Protection actions to deal with risks due to forest fires remains in place, according to which, among other things, the implementation of the measure of the preventive ban on vehicle traffic and the stay of excursionists in national forests is foreseen, forests and “vulnerable” areas.

The General Secretariat of Civil Protection (www.civilprotection.gr) of the Ministry of Climate Crisis & Civil Protection, in collaboration with the Fire Brigade, has informed the competent government agencies involved in the service, as well as the Regions and Municipalities of the above regions, so that they are on increased alertness civil protection in order to deal immediately with any fire incidents.

The Fire Department appeals to citizens:

-Be especially careful and avoid any activity that could cause a fire.

– Monitor forest fire prevention information available on the website and official accounts of the Fire Service, Facebook and Twitter.
