Ikaria: The operation to locate the 17-year-old continues

The sea ​​and air surveys have stopped for a while, however, a large number of people, mainly young people, residents of the wider area of ​​Evdilos Ikariaand not only that, they have gathered with everything they have and are searching the coastline area point by point until the sea searches can start again.

The 17-year-old was swimming in the Kyparissi area north of the island, where winds of 7 Beaufort are blowing and his tracks were lost. In fact, testimonies indicate that there was a big wave.

Under the coordination of the EKSED, two boats of the LS.-EL.AKT. were mobilized, while at the moment an Air Force helicopter is operating to locate the child.

According to testimonies, the child has been missing since 18.15 pm. Searches are being carried out in the wider area from Kerame to Karavostamos. In addition to the forces of the Coast Guard and the Air Force, fishermen in boats “comb” the coasts while investigations are also progressing on land by residents, who with flashlights, are literally investigating stone by stone along the Kerame-Fles-Karabostamos-Milionda coastline.

According new information certified rescue divers from the Amaso Dive Center school have been requested to assist in the search in about four hours from now, at dawn. The divers will be divided into at least six groups and will search the perimeter of the area from Kerame to Evdilos. The forces of the Coast Guard of Ikaria have been reinforced with special vessels from the Coast Guard of Samos which arrived immediately and a huge effort is really being made to find the minor boy.
