Three now it is the fire fronts which have broken out in Ilia. A little before 19.00 in the afternoon and specifically at 18.30 the last new front broke out in the Varda area. The first started at 10.40 in the morning at Unseenwith the flames reaching at noon near the houses, while the second occurred at 16.45 in the area Crispy and at 18.48 it was sent message from 112 to the residents of Pigadi settlement to evacuate to the Simiza area.
According to the fire brigade, winds of up to 4 Beaufort are blowing in places.
On the third front, the fire is burning a forest area in Varda area and 32 firefighters with 13 vehicles are operating while two helicopters are spraying water.
In the fire in the area Crispy they operate 38 firefighters with 14 vehicles, a walking department team and 2 helicopters.
In front of the fire in Agnada 36 vehicles, 115 firefighters, 4 groups of pedestrian sections, 6 aircraft and 2 helicopters are now operating, while volunteer firefighters, project machines and local water bodies provide assistance.
At the same time, all the Fire Services of the Region of Western Greece have been put on general alert.
The picture presented by the fronts of the fire in the areas of Agnanta and Tragano of Ilia is better, as reported to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency, according to the information he has from the fire department, the deputy governor of Ilia, Vassilis Giannopoulos.
With regard to the third fire front in the area of Varda, the deputy governor told APE-MPE that the aerial means are constantly operating there, so that until sunset the fire has been contained, after nightfall only the ground forces will be able to operate.
At the same time, according to the local media, another firefighter was injured in the head during the extinguishing operation.
Firefighters are continuously being stepped up to bring the burning fire under control while earlier a firefighter suffered burns on his limbs while fighting the fire.
The first injured firefighter was transported and treated at the hospital, “Agios Andreas”, in Patras. According to information, he escaped the worst because he was well trained and brought all the necessary personal protective equipment, otherwise he would have suffered serious burns.
Competent sources reported earlier that the fire is quite difficult and there has been a great mobilization from the air and from the ground.
Local investigative offices, as well as Divisions of the Directorate for Combating Arson Crimes (D.A.E.E.) are investigating the causes of the fires.
