Full Glass: Black Princess launches new edition of Braza Hops, with Brazilian hops

by

After a first experience in 2020, the Black Princess brand, from the Petrópolis group, launches the second edition of Brazil Hops, a German pilsner made with Brazilian hops.

Thus, like the first version of the beer, the hops were grown at Centro Cervejeiro da Serra, in Teresópolis, in the mountainous region of Rio de Janeiro.

“The first edition of Black Princess Braza Hops, almost two years ago, was a success and sold out quickly in our e-commerce”, recalls Nathalia Cajueiro, marketing coordinator for Black Princess.

The Petrópolis group started cultivating the plant, responsible for the beer’s aroma, in 2018 – they are usually hops of American origin. Since then, the number of seedlings has increased considerably, from 316 at the beginning to 21,000 in the last account. Today there are 15 hop varieties, which occupy an area of 5 hectares of the Centro Cervejeiro.

Even so, the limited edition of Braza Hops was not expanded. As in 2020, there are 2,000 long neck bottles. With 4.7% of alcohol content, the beer can be found on the website bomdebeer.com.br, the group’s e-commerce, for R$ 11.90.

Other experiences

Still this year, another beer with hops grown in Brazil should arrive, at Fazenda Santa Catarina, in Lages (SC), an initiative of Ambev. The recipe, an Indian pale lager, will also include guava and should be available in units of Bar do Urso and Goose Island Brewhouse, in Pinheiros (western region of São Paulo), in the coming months.

Another Ambev partnership was with the Santa Catarina brewery Lohn, which resulted in the Toda Nossa label, made with all 100% national ingredients.

There are also initiatives of craft breweries from São Paulo and Minas with hops from Serra da Mantiqueira.
