Full Glass: Banda Planta e Raiz launches 3 beers with cannabis aroma

by

Traditional Brazilian reggae band, Planta e Raiz is involved in a new endeavor that is a little less musical, but just as sensorial: the group is launching three beers with aromas that refer to marijuana.

The three labels were developed by Smoked Brew, the new brewing arm of the São Paulo Tap House bar, located in the bohemian Vila Madalena (western region of São Paulo) and which has 42 taps with the most varied beers.

The official launch of the beers is this Sunday (24), at 4 pm, with the presence of the members of the reggae group, who sponsored the project as soon as they were contacted by Smoked Brew. “It’s a great satisfaction to unite three things I love a lot in life: beer, music and the sensational flavors of cannabis. The best thing is to be part of the process of creating the flavor of these super special and exclusive beers”, commented Zeider Pires, lead singer of Planta and Root.

All labels bear the group’s name, such as Planta e Raiz Amnesia Raze, a light and easy-to-drink session IPA with 4.8% alcohol and only 33 IBU (bitterness scale that can reach 120); the second is Plant and Root Sour Diesel, which is not sour, but a New England IPA with a citrus aroma and 7.5% alcohol.

To close the trio of launches, West Coast IPA Planta e Raiz Mango Rush got its name because it recalls a cannabis line with the aroma of green mango and banana. The beer has 7% alcohol and the strongest bitterness (60 IBU).

The three labels can be found exclusively at SPTH, in draft beer or 473 ml cans (with values between R$ 27 and R$ 36).

As with other labels that refer to dank, a characteristic common to beer and marijuana, the secret of the new trio is terpenes, essential oils contained in hops that are also used for other activities, such as aromatherapy. “It is important to emphasize that these terpenes do not contain THC (tetrahydrocarbinol) or CBD (cannabidiol) and do not have animal origin. cannabis flowers”, explained Wilson Proieti Júnior, SPTH manager and creator of Smoked Brew.

Proieti still celebrates the band’s participation in the project. “Planta e Raiz celebrates 25 years of history this year and is a band that emerged here in Vila Madalena. Our project aims to produce intense beers that harmonize with recreational activities”, he comments.
