The career counselor Stratos Stratigakis characterized the 68.83% recorded in this year’s nationwide exams as a fairly high success rate, and noted that “the rest who did not pass were cut due to the minimum admission base which cuts one out of three candidates.
The career advisor told ERT about the surprises in this year’s admission bases that were announced yesterday Thursday, and after 59 years they became known at the end of July Stratos Stratigakis.
Among these are the medical schools that were “held to their height”, the large deviation of bases in NTUA schools and the corresponding schools of Thessaloniki, the large drop in bases in the law school of Thessaloniki and Komotini and in general the 1st scientific field due to a smaller number of candidates .
He characterized the 68.83% achieved in this year’s nationwide exams as a fairly high success rate, and noted that “the rest who did not pass were cut due to the minimum admission base which cuts one out of three candidates. So there were 10,839 vacant positions.” Regarding the vacancies, he underlined that “for the first time in the central universities we have a significant number of vacancies”. As he explained, “this happened because the central universities chose the highest possible coefficient for the minimum admission base, trying to reduce the number of students they accept”. In addition, he stated that “there is also a department that no student succeeded. It’s about nursing in Didymoteichowhich raised the minimum admission base with the result that no one succeeds, as was the case last year with the Architecture of Xanthi”.
Concerning the EPAL, he noted that the results show that “in EPAL, the competition is great and the high performances do not leave vacancies. As there is a shift of children towards EPAL, we see that it is becoming more difficult to enter from EPAL to the University compared to the General High School. The success rate is in half”
In the surprises of this year’s bases, he included the medical schools “which were kept at their height and did not fall below 18,000 points”, the mechanical engineers-engineers at NTUA which “had a decrease in their base by 71 points, while the same school in Thessaloniki by 575 ” pointing out that the difference is very big. The same pointed out with the civil engineers “in NTUA we had an increase of 8 points while in Thessaloniki we had a decrease of 379 points”
In addition, he pointed out the large drop in all the schools of the 1st field “we expected it because this year the candidates were much less than any other year”. Regarding this, he noted that “the lowest base in the History department of Corfu was formed at 8,420 points”.
As reported by the Faculty of Law of Thessaloniki and Komotini, they had a drop of over 200 points, but also in pedagogy there was a big drop from 300-750 points. There was an increase in some sections of the fourth field and this was expected as he explained why “the number of candidates in the 4th field increased”
As an important remark of Mr. Stratigakis is that “the children pass at 90% in their first choices. They are not able to register all schools. Only those that pass the Minimum Entry Basis”
