Six smugglers, including two foreigners, who are involved in two cases of illegal transport of immigrants who did not have legal documents, were arrested yesterday in areas of Evros.
In the first case, in the morning on a rural road in Evros, police officers of the Soufli Border Guard Department of the Alexandroupolis Police Department arrested a foreign trafficker, without a driver’s license, because they spotted him driving a passenger car and illegally transporting four immigrants without legal documents into the hinterland. In addition, four citizens were arrested, who were found to have transported the above vehicle to the rural area.
In the second case, yesterday afternoon on the provincial road of Metaxadon-Mikrou Dereiou, police officers of the Metaxadon Border Guard Department of the Orestiada Police Department arrested a foreign trafficker, who they spotted driving a passenger car and using it to illegally transport five immigrants inland.
The driver resisted, but did not evade arrest.
The above vehicles, money and mobile phones were seized.
