by

Earlier, the fronts of the fire threatened the village of Petroto, but they were stopped by ground and air forces.

The battle of the fire brigades with the flames in the village of Petroto of Domokos has been going on for 15 hours.

The strong winds blowing in the area have made the efforts of the firefighters difficult, as the fire that broke out in the early hours rekindled at noon, formed two fronts and is now moving towards the Thessalian side.

52 firefighters with two (2) groups of pedestrians, 16 vehicles, 11 aircraft and three (3) helicopters are operating at the scene, one (1) of which is for aerial coordination. Assistance is provided by volunteer firefighters as well as water tankers and project machinery of the Local Self-Government. Also, 54 firefighters with two (2) groups of pedestrian departments and 21 vehicles from Regions of the country as follows:
10 firefighters with 5 vehicles from Central Macedonia
16 firefighters with one (1) pedestrian section team and 5 vehicles from Western Macedonia,
10 firefighters with 5 vehicles from Epirus and
18 firefighters with one (1) walking division team and 6 vehicles from Thessaly.

Until before noon, the fronts of the fire threatened the village of Petroto, but they were stopped by ground and air forces. After noon, the wind has changed the course of the fire, leading it towards the Thessalian side without, however, threatening any village.
