An incredible one suffering experience one couple from Thessaloniki who wanted to travel to Crete with his dog. The couple was forced to spend the night in the port of Piraeus after no hotel accepted to accommodate them because they had a dog with them.
The couple arrived yesterday, Friday, at 14:00 in Athens together with their dog, in order to take the ferry to Crete on Saturday night. They started looking for a hotel, but when they informed them that they had a dog with them, they were turned away.
“We entered a hotel and were told that the dog is not allowed because the manager forbids it. Others told us that the law forbids it. I went to a total of six hotels. I couldn’t even enter the subway as some people told me that it is not allowed or only allowed if it is in the box. So we were forced to stay in the port all night to sail tonight to Crete”said the owner of the dog speaking to OPEN.
“There’s nothing we can do… We’ll wait here for the rest of the hours until the ship leaves. Because we no longer have the courage to look for a room even somewhere near here. And the dog is suffering and so are we. We were looking all day for a hotel on foot”his wife said with exhaustion evident on her face.
