Tzanaki’s nightmarish scenario for a million dead with Omicron predominance – What to do

by

Mandatory vaccination at all ages, initially for those over 60 and a little later than 18 years old, suggested Professor of Pulmonology Nikos Tzanakis, emphasizing on SKAI TV and the show “Unmatched” that “we are now living in a war”.

Mr. Tzanakis warned that if the new Omicron mutation escapes technical and physical immunity “then things will be very bad” and the next wave of the pandemic will lead to a much greater burden.

The professor explained that if the Omicron mutation is prevalent and indeed its transmissibility is high, the coronavirus cases will probably double and triple, while if the percentage of the unvaccinated remains the same “we will talk about a million deaths and possibly the health system will not respond”.

He presented three different scenarios related to the Omicron mutation.

The first scenario that is unlikely to be verified is that Omicron causes a serious and critical illness not only in the untreated but also in the sick or vaccinated. In this case, according to Mr. Tzanakis, “we start the” race “from March 2020”.

A second scenario is to have a virus that is transmitted and causes a mild illness in both vaccinated and unvaccinated people.

The most likely scenario, however, lies between the two previous ones. According to this, Omicron causes mild and severe disease in the vaccinated, but the vaccines will protect the vaccinated and the sick from the disease.

Whatever scenario is confirmed, the health system is expected to be burdened.

Hexagon: We would live in a safer environment with mandatory vaccination over 50

For his part, the president of the Panhellenic Medical Association, Athanasios Exadaktylos, stressed that if compulsory vaccination was introduced for all over 50, “we would live in a much safer environment in our country.”

Specifically for the Omicron mutation, he stressed that there are still no definitive answers to the basic questions that arise, but “we all agree that whoever Omicron is, it is better to find us vaccinated, than to find us unvaccinated.”

Mr. Exadaktylos pointed out the importance of the third dose of vaccine as it offers protection even to the small percentage of citizens who did not get it with the first two doses. He called on all citizens to take the step and be vaccinated in view of the winter, the Omicron and the ambiguities created by the new mutation.
