The health condition of two of the four injured after the accident at a well-known amusement park in Athens on Tuesday night is considered serious.
According to information, the two injured are hospitalized in critical condition.
The accident reportedly happened when a roller coaster derailed and passengers were thrown, but the amusement park said in a statement that there was never a derailment and it does not know the exact cause of the fall.
The announcement of the amusement park
“Regarding the incident that occurred last night at the Allou Amusement Park! Fun Park, we would like to inform you that the management of the park is from the first moment close to the children who were injured, fortunately not in danger, and wishes them wholeheartedly. Based on the park’s safety protocol, an ambulance was immediately called, while the nursing staff provided first aid until the injured were transferred to a health facility.
Regarding what was written in the press about the incident, we would like to confirm that there was never a wagon derailment, while the water level was sufficient for the safe operation of the game. This game, like all of Allou’s games! Fun Park, carries all the required security certifications while having error notification automations. Immediately after the incident, the technical department of the park confirmed that the game is working without any errors, but as a precaution it was decided to shut it down.
We still do not know the exact reasons that caused the children to fall into a side bush, but we are in communication with them to find out all the details of the incident.
Given that in the thousands of hours of operation of this particular game, a similar incident has never happened before, it is really questionable how – although the wagon was in place – the children were found outside the wagon.
The absolute priority of the park administration is the safety of its visitors. For this reason all the games of Allou! Fun Parks are regularly maintained, they have recent certifications from TUV Hellas for their safe operation, while checks for smooth and orderly operation are carried out daily by experienced technical staff, before the start of the park and the entry of visitors.
In our 20 years in the entertainment business, this is the first time such an incident has taken place and we are truly sorry for it. We stand by the children who were injured and wish them a speedy recovery.”
